Death to decaf?

Issue #4 | September 24, 2024

Hey coffee nerds!

Why does decaf coffee get such a bad rapport? Sometimes I still hear people say that "if it's decaf, it's not coffee." Honestly, I fell in this group for such a long time. But there seems to be a resurgence of roasters that are actually putting in some work to make decaf a great choice.

There are many reasons someone might choose decaf coffee. It could be health related, or related to getting better sleep. Whatever the reason, the main thing that we enjoy as specialty coffee drinkers is an amazing brew that tastes good.

Familiar Coffee has opened my eyes lately to what is possible with specialty decaf. They take special care to ensure that the decaf process doesn't take away from the flavor of the coffee. Bush Hill Coffee also shares that sentiment with their honey processed decaf "rage against the caffeine."

What is your experience with decaf? Why do you drink decaf? Is there a roaster that makes a solid decaf that you enjoy? Hit reply to this email and let me know!
